British Indian stamp paper refers to the stamped vellum, perchment, or paper used in British indian time period (i.e: Year 1858 – 1947 ) for various legal and official documents, similar to modern day  revenue stamps. These stamps were used to indicate payment of duties or taxes and were required for a wide range of transactions, including property transfers, legal proceedings, and other official acts. The stamps were issued by both the British Raj and various princely states within India.
